In Honor of Michael Holloway

Our dear friend Michael Holloway passed on March 30th, 2023. Michael was part of the Sloss Furnaces family as a metal artist for nearly three decades. His son Jesse, his sister Sherry and her oldest son, Brookes, joined Michael on many iron pours. These events took on even greater significance when Michael needed some help during these physically demanding events. Despite the challenges, his ideas and the work he helped create continued to be magnificent – representational, abstract, and combinations of both genres. Michael often poured with Jon Stewart, Joe McCreary, Julie Ward, Heather Spencer, and so many other wonderful artists that have produced incredible art at Sloss Furnaces.
To honor his memory, Michael’s family has established a fund through Sloss Furnace so that his family and others are able to send donations so that the iron arts program can continue to serve future generation of metal artists. In lieu of flowers, the following link provides an opportunity to make donations in his memory:
Michael's Life Celebration will be held at Sloss Furnace in the West Interior room May 13 from 1:00 to 4:00, with an opportunity to watch an iron pour and tour the site.
