About the event
This exhibition features sculptural works from our exhibiting apprentice artists, demonstrating their unique artistic voices and the breadth of the skills they've acquired throughout the apprenticeship.
In addition to their independent sculptures, we'll also have products created by the apprentices for purchase including bookends, coins, skewers, hooks, and more! All proceeds go towards continued funding for the Summer Youth Apprenticeship program.
This reception is free and open to the public!
RSVP's are not required to attend, but help us in planning and preparations!
The 8-week Summer Youth Apprenticeship employs high school students, ages 16-19, to study under professional artists for 30hrs/week. The program is designed to introduce students to various processes and techniques in a hands-on, individualized environment. Instructors integrate ideas about form, design, and materials into projects that teach the apprentices metal casting, welding, and forging. This exhibition is designed and coordinated by the apprentices, with the help of Sloss's Resident Artists and Staff.
