Visiting Artist in Residence

Applications for 8-week Visiting Artist Residencies are currently closed.

Sloss Furnaces Foundation hosts several 8-week Visiting Artists throughout the year, typically in the Summer and Fall.

This program is designed for professional artists interested in further developing their studio practice and honing technical skills. Visiting Artists will be provided with a furnished apartment near Sloss Furnaces, a living stipend, materials budget, sand and iron, and 24-hour studio access.

Visiting Artists are expected to have a final exhibition at the conclusion of their residency. One piece from the exhibition is to be donated to Sloss's permanent collection. These works are exhibited on rotation throughout Sloss's historic campus.​

This opportunity is available to US-based applicants and international applicants who are able to obtain their own visa for the duration of the residency. Unfortunately, Sloss is unable to assist with visa sponsorship at this time.​
